The fourth episode of the YOUTH4EU podcast explores youth participation, democracy and the role young people can play in shaping their communities. Hosted by Anastasija Andrijeska, this episode brings together Alejandro Restrepo Tovar, an ESC volunteer from Spain, also Marija Dimitrioska and Marko Milosheski, representatives of the Local Youth Council in Prilep.

Marija and Marko, as representatives of the Local Youth Council in Prilep, bring a local perspective based on their direct involvement in youth participation, representation and decision-making at community level. Alejandro as an ESC volunteer from Spain with experience in ESC and Erasmus+ activities, brings an international perspective based on his experience of youth participation and European youth programmes.

The conversation looks at participation in elections and the reasons some young people feel that their vote does not make a difference. It also goes beyond voting to explore other ways young people can influence decisions in their communities and make their voices heard. Marija and Marko discuss the role of the Local Youth Council in encouraging youth participation and representing the interests of young people in Prilep, while Alejandro shares his perspective on youth participation across different European countries and what North Macedonia can learn from European practices.

The episode also explores the role of the European Union in encouraging young people to participate in democratic processes, the importance of trust in institutions, and the opportunities available to young people through European programs and initiatives. At the end, the guests share their advice and messages for young people who want to become more active, participate in decision-making and contribute to their communities.
