In this article I will write about some recipes on how to prepare some foods that Romanians use to eat.

Tempered cabbage

Tempered cabbage- you can either serve it as garnish or as a dish,you can prepare it after this simple and traditional recipe, and it is delicious ! It is more than tasty, easy and fast to prepare, which makes it the perfect for the days when you want to cook something without too much effort.

 

Time of preparation

Preparation time -15 minutes

Cooking time       -30 minutes

Ready in               -45 minutes

Necessary ingredients

1 medium white cabbage ( 1-2 kilograms )

1-2 green peppers

1-2 white medium onions

1-2 medium tomatoes

2-3 spoons of tomato sauce

Oil,salt,pepper to one’s taste

Optional – paprika

Way of preparation

First of all , cut the peppers and the onions in small pieces.You temper them in a little oil,on small to medium fire, in a big bowl. When they get softer,you can season with salt and pepper, then add the tomato which you cut in little cubes.

In the meantime, wash and cut the cabbage in not so small pieces.After 2-3 minutes have passed from when you added the tomato to temper, add the tomato sauce.Mix, add some paprika if you wish, then put on the lid and leave it on small fire.

After this add the minced cabbage and mix easily.If it doesn’t fit all at first, add as much as you can and then as it gets softer, add some more.

Leave the cabbage on small fire, mixing from 10 to 10 minutes, and important!- with the lid on, so it doesn’t burn and leave sauce.

At the end, you can add other condiments if you want it to be more tasty, like thyme, laurel leaves,etc.

Green beans in the pan

Green beans on a pan -cheap, very healthy, extremely tasty and easy to make.Whether you consider it as a quick fasting meal or a garnish next to a steak, it’s the perfect choice ! It is ready in almost 20 minutes, with little effort and without the need to stay near it and check if it doesn’t burn.

Time of preparation

Time of preparation – 5 minutes

Timo of cooking       -15 minutes

Ready in                   – 20 minutes

Ingredients

600 grams of green beans

5 medium tomatoes

6 minced garlic cloves

3-4 medium onions

Salt, pepper, dill, parsley – to one’s taste.

Way of preparation

The green beans are cut in pieces of 2-3 cm, and they are scalded a bit in salt water.After that you wash it in cold water and leave it to dry.

Then, you mince the onions in small pieces and put them in the pan with hot oil, and you mix them continuously.

After it gets transparent, you add the green beans and half of the tomatoes.You leave them 5 minutes on the fire, until the tomatoes are softened.After this you add the rest of the tomatoes, the spices and the garlic and you leave them under the lid until the beans are boiled. You cook it another minute without the lid, and you serve it hot.

Eggs with potatoes and sausages in a pan

When the wind is blowing through the fridge or through the wallet, when you are out of ideas of what to cook, this recipe with eggs and potatoes and sausages in pan will be more than useful.A quick dish, very tasty( like all simple things) and which doesn’t cost much.

Time of preparation

Time of preparation- 10 minutes

Time of cooking- 17 minutes

Ready in- 27 minutes

Ingredients

2 medium potatoes

3 eggs

1-2 sausages

Condiments- paprika, salt, pepper- to one’s taste.

Way of preparation

Clean the potatoes, cut them into cubes, and fry them for about 15 minutes. After the first 5 minutes, season them with a lot of paprika, salt and pepper.

Cut the sausages round and add them.Put the lid on and wait for 10 minutes.After the potatoes are well done,make place for 3 eggs in the pan,season the eggs a little bit and leave them another 2 minutes with the lid on, and then serve the meal hot !

Chicken soup with noodles

Ingredients

Noodles

Some parsley leaves

Half a leek

1 slice of celery

1 parsley root

1 carrot

1 chicken breast

Salt at one’s own taste

Way of preparation

You have to debone the chicken and cut it in little cubes which you put to boil in salty water.You leave the foam to form as many times as it takes, and after the foam doesn’t form anymore, you clean the interior of the pot with a cold cloth.

You add the vegetables that you cut in cubes and continue boiling.After the vegetables are boiled, you add the noodles, which are boiled separately, you let it bubble one more time and close the fire.

You bring the hot soup at the table with minced parsley.

Simple doughnuts

This is the best and fastest recipe for fluffy doughnuts. They are cheap, effortless to make and also perfect if you are fasting!

Time of preparation

Time of preparation- 10 minutes

Cooking time – 20 minutes

Ready in –30 minutes

Ingredients

500 grams flour

250 ml water ( necessary warm)

25 grams of yeast

50 ml oil

2-3 sugar spoons

2 vials of vanilla essence

A tiny bit of salt

Way of preparation

Dissolve the yeast in a little warm water. If you have dry yeast, use only 10 grams.

Mix, in a bigger bowl, the flour, the salt. Add the yeast melted in the warm water, the vanilla essence and the oil.

Pour, gradually and by mixing continuously, the rest of the warm water, until you get a homogenous and sticky dough, but which doesn’t stick to the hands.

Cover with a towel,(little wet preferably) and let it leaven until it doubles in size.

Put some oil on the table.Put the dough, knead it 2-3 times and lay it with the wooden rolling pin.Form, with the glass, the doughnuts and leave them to grow another 2-3 minutes.

Fry some oil in a higher bowl and fry the doughnuts. When they are ready, take them out on a paper towel to absorb the excessive oil, put some powdered sugar on them, and they are ready !
